Leona Divide 50 Mile Video! April 2011

I finally finished the video for the Leona Divide 50 miler! I cannot believe it took me a month to put it together. When is someone going to start paying me to do these videos so I can prioritize them over my real work? It was really fun to watch over all the footage and re-live the race. There may not be stripey knee socks like my last race video, but there are still some sweet dance moves on display! Other bonuses: sexy rockstar wigs, creepy dolls along the trail, and I discover the next big running superfood. Check it out.

In other news, I’m getting really excited about Shadow of the Giants this weekend. I finally booked our hotel room (procrastinator much?) and our weekend plans are set. Word is that the race was almost cancelled because of impassable trails due to snow and fallen trees, but Big Baz found a way. I’m hoping to shoot video during the race (you know, so I can edit it together by August) but it looks like it might be pretty rainy, so I’m going to have to play it by ear. See you on the other side!

    Hi Elizabeth,

I don’t know if my comment on this video posted or not (I saw that there were 0 comments) so I am posting again…sorry if it is a double post!

I just wanted you to know that I enjoyed the video of Leona Divide! Very good editing and good music!

LD will be my first Ultra, I plan to do the 50k. The video is a great preview of the course!

Are you running again this year? If you are, I hope to meet you and say hello in person.

    Peace and Love,

    Andy

      Hi Andy,

Thanks for the comment! I didn’t see another one in the queue–maybe it got eaten by the spam catcher. And I’m glad you liked the video! Filming them is a good distraction during low points of the race, and editing them is a fun way to relive the memories.

You are going to have a GREAT time at Leona! It is so, so beautiful, and the race is so well organized and friendly. I really can’t imagine a better first time ultra. (Well, maybe something flat, but what’s the fun in that??)

I unfortunately will be skipping this year–I’m pregnant and my due date is a week before the race. 🙂 Seems a little soon to jump back into running ultras! Next year for sure, though. If you think about it I would love to hear how your race goes–drop me a comment afterward, or let me know if you have a blog…

    Hi Elizabeth!

I’m the new runner superfood “quiche” maker from this race. Someone ran into our aid station this year and asked for quiche and told me about the video so i had to check it out. Too funny! Glad to be part of the superfood future.

Congratulations on the baby! Hope to see you at aid station mile 29.5 next year where quiche will be waiting!

      Deb,

It is awesome to hear from you–the quiche mistress herself! I’m so glad to know that the quiche tradition is alive and well–it is seriously still my favorite aid station food of any ultra I’ve run. Question: was the man in the pink rabbit suit there this year as well?

I love Leona and am definitely planning on running next year–can’t wait to meet you and thank you in person for the quiche!

    Hi Elizabeth,

Yes the man with the bunny suit (John i think is his name) was there this year, but we had an hawaiian theme so he adorned the bunny suit with a grass skirt and lei. He’ll be there for sure next year. We have an awesome theme already, don’t miss it. No hints though!

    Hey Elizabeth!!

Thanks for posting the race report and video! I just found both the race report and video as I prepare for Leona Divide 50 miler in roughly one month. Pretty exciting stuff (and also scary haha lol). Loved the video and tip on quiche especially — I’m going to try to give quiche a shot as some race fuel before one of my last training runs leading up to Leona. Hope all is well!!!!

Hey Adam! Sorry for the belated reply–this got lost in the spam queue for awhile. Good luck at Leona this weekend! I’d love to hear how your race goes after it’s done. And eat some quiche for me!
